Linus Launches #26

If you like to be on the cutting edge, to have the very latest release of everything, then get ready, because Version 2.6.26 of the Linux kernel has just come down the pipe.

Released by developer-in-chief Linus Torvalds on Sunday, the new release came with only the briefest of announcements, noting that releases seem to take longer to arrive than in the past, and thanking contributors for regression fixes contributed in the last few days leading up to the release. Torvalds notes that the majority of the release's heft comes from documentation updates — some 78% — while the bulk of the rest seems to be work on drivers. The full breakdown is available in the announcement.
