KDE 4.0 Hits the (Virtual) Shelves

KDE fans, now is the time you have been waiting for! The long-awaited, eagerly-anticipated, it's-going-to-knock-your-socks-off-when-it-gets-here KDE 4.0 is now available.

Described as the beginning of a new era, KDE 4 brings a host of new features to the desktop environment party, including enhanced multimedia framework, better hardware integration and power management, a new desktop interface that includes widgets, a dashboard, and advanced graphical support for windows. Also included are new applications, including the new Okular document viewer and Dolphin file manager, as well as a "breath of fresh air" in the desktop art, thanks to the Oxygen Artwork team.

KDE 4 packages are already available for a number of popular Linux distributions including Debian, Fedora, Kubuntu and openSUSE, while packages are in the works for the next versions of Mandriva and several other distributions. KDE 4.0 is available for download from the KDE website.
