Linux Consultants Survey

An invitation to share your experiences as a Linux consultant for customers who may not know what that means.

Fellow Linux Consultants:

Having been a Linux Consultant for the past ten years gives me a
unique perspective on the uses, abuses and complaints that exist out in
the populace concerning Linux. I have my own stories and opinions,
too--as well as prejudices. What I would like to do now is find out your opinions,
complaints and solutions regarding the use of Linux in your consulting business.

To do this, I have created an on-line interview, located
here. My goal
is to collect data and provide a summary of the results, along with
a few select anecdotes from the interviews, in a future issue of
Linux Journal or on the Linux
Journal
Web site.

Please fill out the form only once. All entries and URLs will be verified
for authenticity before being summarized for the article. If you have
questions or comments, you can write to me at
kenneth.hess@gmail.com.

I'm curious 4 the results. As a long term linux admin with no one to ask when occuring problems but google/forum i sometimes wish to have someone to consult directly.

I am anxious to see what everyone has to say too. Originally I asked the maintainer of the Linux Consultants list to send the link to the interview to all of the Consultants, but he was reluctant to "spam" them. It would have been nice to get their responses, but maybe they will find their way to the online interview and fill it out.
I will publish as much detail as possible from the responses. People are being very good about giving explanations so it will be valuable, I think.

Thanks, actually.....

I appreciate the chance to not only share but learn what others feel/see. One difference I've noticed between myself and windows admins. I have to know Windows ... they aren't expected to know Linux, or networking. (even the cisco certified ones.)
