I have a aspire one linux, ive had it for 2 years i used to be able to watch thing on adobe flash player but now it says that my flash player is out of date but when i try to download the new version it says my laptop can not exept it or can not support file. i also cant download skype either i feel very frustrated some one please help! :)
Acer netbook problem
My computer light comes on like its working but my screen just stays black nothing comes up a would be grateful if any1 knows anything I could try thanku

My computer did this for years. Sometimes it would work and sometimes not. So, just 2 weeks ago and friend ran a Google search and found that the FL Inverter Board was dead when the screen was black. I decided it was not dead because it comes and goes which sounded like a short. So, we ran a search on how to replace it so we could find it. IT was easy!. I played around with it and put it back together and have had no trouble for 2 weeks!! So, run the google search for How to replace the FL Inverterboard. It is in the screen part near the hinde, if you were talking laptop.

I recently purchased the HP Deskjet 1000 J110 Series printer tried to install it to my Acer Inspire One Notebook computer and will not istall. What printers are best compatible with this type of computers. Please reply like asap!!!
just want to get to windows!!
when i turn it on it says press f1 to enter set up then when i do it goes to this blue and grey 80's looking menu screen that says things like " esc to exit, arrow up arrow down" so i push esc to exit and it says " exit and discard changes? (option yes or no)" so i just push yes to move on to windows. what do i have to do to make it stop going to this screen ? and why did it start doing this in the first place?
acer aspire one- cursor jumping all over page while typing
My acer aspire one problem: whenever i type, the cursor constantly jumps to unintended spaces,causing me to have to locate the cursor & restart action.Typing could take up to 10 minutes to type one word because cursor is everywhere accept where intended. I can't get pass 3 letters before cursor performs, highlighting, moves to a website, or diffrent space on page. Very frustrating, please help.

After posting previous reply, my son changed some settings and it appears to be working MUCH better when typing....in the TouchPad settings, under the Tapping tab, change the tapping speed to the fastest setting.....and under the Multitouch Gestures, change the Finger Size to maximum. See if it helps you any! :)

is your problem that you don't have a CD drive, or that you have problems loading the driver. If its the first then I suggest you download a new driver from the printer maker's web site. Do you have XP or Linux, what is the printer make and model ?
Black background?
Okay so my Acer one background is just black.
it turns on and all but the background I chose won't show up.
I dowloaded oceanis and it changed the back ground but it just won't show up.

How do .I activate my BT Mobile Broadband?
Hoping someone can help me please? i have acer aspire one running linux and i purchased a bt mobile broadband dongle to go roaming, but although i can configure it on all my windows based Pcs i have NO idea what i am supposed to do with it on this one? if insert the dongle it brings up a BT CM file manager box with files in, but i cant double click them or activate anything that lets me use the dongle? can anyone talk this non techy through what i need to do please? i feel very blonde. (yes, i really am though) thanks.

Linux cannot read most executable files that are windows based there is no way around it other than to rewrite more than half the functions in the programming codes ...... so the best advice is find a program that can split ure hard-drive in 2 and install xp partition keep linux in the other if u want to? xp sp2 workes best........
Dongle and .exe
Karen - this is not an actual REPLY but a heartfelt request that if you DO get your problem solved, you please let me know! I am in Turkey with my Acer & Linux. Wanting to connect to Internet, I bought a dongle/package but from a Turkish telephone company. Whilst I can make it (the .exe file) work on a Windows based PC, I cannot manage it with my Acer/Linux. No-one here knows about Linux - even the tekkie guys in their shops. So, any help from ANYONE would be appreciated very much!
If you have an up to date
If you have an up to date Linux version it will recognise many 3G dongles. Ubuntu's netbook remix, Easy Peasy and others. You can download these, install to a USB memory stick and boot the stick to see how it performs.
I don't know what the position is with the "stock" Linux on the Acer, or indeed which particular model of 3G dongle you have. I did get a stock EeePC working with a Huawei 3G dongle from Vodafone.

You can also download a software program called MagicDisc.
Here's the info copied from their site:

You can solve that problem easily. Goto a computer store and purchase an USB external cd drive. I bought an external DVD Writer and cost me less than $70.

You can get an external cd drive for your netbook. I have one and thats how i can install cd based games/applications. I purchased mine at walmart for $70 but have noticed that some brands are even cheaper now a days.

All external USB CD or DVD drives are recognised by the BIOS and by Linux quite happily, the drive itself has no features that make it "linux compatible".
I just bought the acer 10.1 netbook
The background won't change. I couldnn't find the option to change the background until I went into paint && then it gave me the option but when I clicked it nothing happened. I've restarted it, && opened different pictures in paint but the desktop background just won't change.

i have acer 6930G and my profile was stuck when i started windows, even after putting it it wasnt logging me inn, so after trying many times, i went in safe mode and deleted my profile and restarted system, now everything is working perfect, except my all desktop files are gone and i can see them in some folder in c drive, but they are not opening and giving error, please please help.

i bought my acer aspire mini laptop last year and the battery and computer was both brand new but its basically a portable computer i cant unplug it or it goes off ....so is their any settings i need to change to make it work .

Hi, I've had a acer netbook for around 1 or 2 years now and i think about 6 months ago It stopped working. Now all I get from it is the microsoft windows xp loading page, the blue disk check page, and the system start up page/ boot page options ( safe, normal, last worked, etc) But how do I get to the actual desktop page so I can use internet and stuff??? Please help asap!

oceanis will let you change
oceanis will let you change your background. theres another tricker way in changing the system registry, but i wouldnt bother. oceanis works fine. google it and download, then feel free to change your background. windows 7 starter is just a cash gimmick and that was one feature(not being able to change your background natively) that irked me right from the start.

Transferring files To Acer Aspire
I transfer lots of files between my computers using an external 500GB Hard Drive and occasionally using 8 MB thumb drives. I'm sure it's possible to exchange files from one computer to another through a network but if you don't have a network connecting your computers USB drives are the way to go. There's also double “male” USB cable you could try. As of this moment I'm unaware of any wireless way to have computers transferring files without a network or adding a component that didn't come included. Someday you should be able to buy two different computers and they could exchange files without additional gadgets, but we're not there yet.
