Native(ish) Netflix!
The folks over at http://www.iheartubuntu.com recently put up a challenge to the Linux community to get Netflix to work natively under our beloved OS. Thankfully, Erich Hoover stepped up to the challenge and patched the Wine Project in a way to allow Firefox/Silverlight to be installed and actually work with Netflix's DRM'd Silverlight!

The process is a little complex, and it involves patching source code before compiling, but Erich plans to create a PPA with all the compiling already done. Eventually, he intends to create a standalone Netflix-playing app that incorporates all the pieces of Wine and Silverlight. Thankfully, Erich didn't wait until the project was complete before sharing his success. If you want to play native(ish) Netflix on your Linux desktop without virtualization, check out his instructions at: http://www.iheartubuntu.com/2012/11/netflix-on-ubuntu-is-here.html.

Realizing the promise of Apache® Hadoop® requires the effective deployment of compute, memory, storage and networking to achieve optimal results. With its flexibility and multitude of options, it is easy to over or under provision the server infrastructure, resulting in poor performance and high TCO. Join us for an in depth, technical discussion with industry experts from leading Hadoop and server companies who will provide insights into the key considerations for designing and deploying an optimal Hadoop cluster.

Every security policy provides guidance and requirements for ensuring adequate protection of information and data, as well as high-level technical and administrative security requirements for a system in a given environment. Traditionally, providing security for a system focuses on the confidentiality of the information on it. However, protecting the data integrity and system and data availability is just as important. For example, when processing United States intelligence information, there are three attributes that require protection: confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

How to Build an Optimal Hadoop Cluster to Store and Maintain Unlimited Amounts of Data Using Microservers
Some of key questions to be discussed are:
- What is the “typical” Hadoop cluster and what should be installed on the different machine types?
- Why should you consider the typical workload patterns when making your hardware decisions?
- Are all microservers created equal for Hadoop deployments?
- How do I plan for expansion if I require more compute, memory, storage or networking?

NetFlix ppa avaiable & working
Linux PPA for Netflicks is Working.
Compliments of Erich Hoover.
Go Here first!!
http://www.iheartubuntu.com/2012/11/ppa-for-netflix-desktop-app.html
Follow the easy instructions.
NOTE #1
If you had previously tried to install the Netflix Desktop App via our terminal commands from the earlier post, we recommend running the line below in a terminal to clear out any unexpected errors BEFORE trying to install the Netflix Desktop app via the PPA method...
rm -Rf ~/.netflix-desktop
***ppa install method***
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ehoover/compholio
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install netflix-desktop
You can also "thank" Erich for his hard work by donating to his ChipIn...

Old news
This article has no clue. The ppa has been out for about 2 months.
Great reporting Shawn! This
Great reporting Shawn! This is the best patch of the wine project ever. Who cares if it's native or not, it works very well, that's all that matters.
Wine'd Netflix already running on Fuduntu
Not sure if part of the same project but as of 12/19/2012, Fuduntu Linux already has a "wine'd" version of Netflix up and running.

While this project does work
While this project does work really well, I still wouldn't call it native. But thank you so much for getting it done, this is awesome.
