Congress Backs Up BitTorrent

It's long been alleged that Comcast was targeting BitTorrent users by throttling their downloads. Last week, the AP reported that it had conducted tests that confirmed the company was blocking BitTorrent traffic.

Now, U.S. Representative Rick Boucher of Virginia has asked the company to discontinue the practice, saying it diminishes users' “ability to utilize the Internet for one of its most important applications.”

As Comcast refuses to admit to the throttling, it's unlikely the Congressman's request will have much effect, but perhaps it's a sign that Congress will be revisiting the issue of net neutrality, with the intent of protecting the user rights.
