Latest CentOS Hits the Shelves
Jun 26, 2008 By Justin Ryan
The latest version of CentOS — the Red Hat Enterprise Linux without the Red Hat — is now available, based on the newly-released RHEL 5.2.
The distribution is currently available for i386 and X86_64 as both CD & DVD images, while PowerPC, IA64, and Sparc are in the works and should be released "soon." Due to popular demand, a netintall ISO for easier network installation has been included, and will be available for all future CentOS-5 releases. Also noted is Red Hat's pledge of four years of "intensive support" for RHEL, with three years of "less intensive" support to follow, meaning RHEL — and CentOS, by extension — should be kept up to date for at least the next seven years.
