Heard of the Web? If not, read on. This month we talk with Matt Mullenweg about WordPress. If you want to get your hands dirty in Web code, take a look at the rest of our feature articles on WebKit, Dojo and OpenLaszlo.
In the rest of the issue, you'll find articles on OpenID, RDFa and Quanta Plus.
Kyle Rankin puts a new spin (as in "no" spin SSD) on hard drives and
also tells you how to migrate to that new disk (spinning or not).
Mick Bauer continues his series on customizing live CD's.
And, James Gray gives us a feel for the state of Linux in the enterprise.
After all that, you may need some TV time. If so, check out our review
on how to make that digital TV tuner card work in your Linux box.

What about the Buntu generations
On May 28th, 2008 Fred Simon (not verified) says:
Seeing the title I was expecting a zoo defile of:
Breezy Badger
Dapper Drake
Edgy Eft
Feisty Fawn
Gusty Gibon
Hardy Heron
That's a a lot more painful video to make :)
Waaaaay tooo much!

Someone has waaaaay tooo much time on their hands. I really loved Carlie's clip - not only does it cut your hair, it appears to reallocate the spare hair to your chest. Gotta get one of those!

Flowbee
On May 22nd, 2008 Carlie Fairchild says:
I say we all pitch in a buck and buy Shawn a Flowbee. Sorry, Shawn but the readers speak...
;)

You laugh...
On May 22nd, 2008 Shawn Powers says:
You laugh, Ms. Fairchild -- but I've bid on a Flowbee in the past on eBay. :) I've wanted one since I saw the "Suck and Cut" on Wayne's World!

But I do...
On May 22nd, 2008 Shawn Powers says:
I guess depends on your version of "better" -- since I haven't paid for a haircut for the better part of a decade, I think mine is better. heehhe
(And if it wouldn't freak my wife out too much, I'd probably shave my head bald, for simplicity's sake!)

Tales of the Blode

Shawn, your voice-overs remind me eerily of the Tales of the Blode http://www.rathergood.com
I Like the Moon!!!!
On May 22nd, 2008 Shawn Powers says:
Man I love that video they do with the Sponge Monkeys. (I even blogged about it, which may be a bit obsessive!)

I too like the moon.
On May 22nd, 2008 Galactic-ac (not verified) says:
I too like the moon. But I like Iggy Pop and the Ocelot Shop better. Aren't you in Holly, MI, or someplace near there? Close to Iggy's home territory.
Ubuntu family

I have been following your clips for about a year now. I am a great fan. Nice job on the "buntu" family comparo.
Thanks!
On May 22nd, 2008 Shawn Powers says:
My wife's response to the video was rolling her eyes, but I think deep down she liked it too. :)

Two Things
On May 29th, 2008 daengbo says:
First, you're friggin' insane (but I don't mean no disrespect...).
Secondly, and more importantly, I thought Ubuntu 8.04 put WAY too much emphasis on releasing on time and not enough on fixing what should have been critical bugs. I'm not sure if the six-month release cycle is wearing them down or not, but something's going on over there in the castle, and it smells like bad poultry.
Still, things are better than they used to be, eh?

Agree, and Agree
On May 29th, 2008 Shawn Powers says:
Things in the Linux world are indeed nicer than they used to be. Most stuff does "just work" now. I really like things to work.
One of the disappointments I had with the 8.04 release was Firefox 3. I just don't think it was (or quite is) ready. It might be flash that is the culprit, but FF3 in Hardy Heron crashes for me all the time. Like, 5-10 times a day.
Oh, and as to my sanity, well, you may have a point. :D
