HomeBase 1.3 Features

you use a regular V.90 modem, high-speed ADSL or cable modem, there is
no software to install.

advantage of your free 100 MB secure storage on our servers to save
your emails and files and access them from anywhere in the world.
- Automatic Update and Upgrade of software. You don't need to worry about
maintaining the software. The system installs all software and upgrades
over the Internet from our servers with no hassles.
HomeBase 1.3 Requirements
HomeBase Software-Only Box
HomeBase 1.3 will install on x86 PC running RedHat Linux 7.1 (7.2 soon). For
optimum operation, RedHat Linux must be configured in the following manner:
- Xwindows must not be set in frame buffer mode. Instead it must be
configured to match the graphics card or chipset and the resolution
must be set to 1024x768 pixel, 24-bit color depth;
- Audio subsystem fully functioning;
- Ethernet or (hardware) Modem connection configured;
- Video for Linux hardware and corresponding driver installed (for
optional TV tuner or USB camera)
- Serial or USB port enabled (for optional synchronization with
Palm-based PDA)
Custom-Built Internet Computer
Building your custom Internet Computer from scratch requires an x86 based PC
compatible with RedHat 7.1 (7.2 soon). The FuturePower AIO and ASUS
Terminator featured on our webstore are good examples of compatible
hardware. The HomeBase setup program will re-format the hard drive and
install custom builds of the following components:
- Linux kernel, version 2.4.17;
- Mozilla, build 0.9.5;
- File system, ReiserFS for safe power-offs;
- Xwindows, XFree86 version 4.0.3 (4.1.x soon).
