Don't Count Linux Out Just Yet
It's Revenge of the Geeks time, as Linux advocates are rallying to dispel the notion that Linux has lost it's edge in the server market.
Earlier this week, IDC released a report indicating that Linux market share was down considerably from previous years. Linux supporters, however, have come out in force, rejecting the numbers as faulty. Many have decried the report as flawed because it doesn't take into account the Linux boxes shipped "bare" (without an operating system) and loaded with Linux after installation, as well as the popular trend of recycling Unix or Windows boxes with Linux.
Some supporters have even gone as far as to claim that it is impossible to determine the number of Linux servers in production.
