FSF Announces Associate Membership Meeting

Since the launch of the Free Software Foundation's Associate Membership program in late November 2002, around 825 people have signed up as associate members of FSF.

FSF is hosting its first annual Associate Membership Meeting on Saturday, March 15th, in Boston, Massachusetts, from 10:00am to 4:30pm. In order to attend the meeting, one has to be a registered Associate Member of FSF. You can sign up at member.fsf.org. The Annual Meeting will be an opportunity for the Associate Members and the Board and Staff to meet each other and for members to learn more about the work and philosophy of the Foundation.

Members are invited to lead workshops or give presentations at the meeting, which will be attended by FSF Founder and President Richard Stallman, Board Member and General Counsel Eben Moglen, Executive Director Bradley Kuhn, board members Henri Poole and Gerald Sussman, and others.

We have extended the RSVP deadline to Wednesday, February 26. If you sign up as an Associate Member by this date, you can send an RSVP to membership@fsf.org and attend the meeting.

Benefits of associate membership include a a bootable membership card that contains the LNX-BBC distribution and a20% discount on all GNU Press products, including books, CDs and clothing. Members also receive five e-mail addresses in the member.fsf.org domain and a tax deduction, as FSF is a 501(c)(3) organization.

On March 3rd, FSF is planning to announce its Corporate Sponsorship Program, the corporate equivalent of its Associate Membership for individuals.

1:30 - 2:15 Panel Discussion and Q&A with FSF Leadership, including:

  • Eben Moglen, FSF Board Member and General Counsel

  • Henri Poole, FSF Board Member

  • Richard M. Stallman, FSF President

  • Gerald J. Sussman, FSF Board Member

Other board members will likely attend as well, depending on their availability.
