Free Linux Boxes for US High Schools

Dirk Hohndel, president of the company's US operations, said, "Having Linux in high schools around the US demonstrates the open-source philosophy and shows students, teachers, administrators and IT specialists that they do not have to be tied to expensive operating systems and ongoing costly upgrades."

In addition, the company welcomes open-source development companies to join and support the SuSE Free Linux Program. Hundreds of open-source development companies have partnered to provide Linux applications and utilities. Their participation is expected to enhance the program with a wide range of applications that can enhance productivity within high school computing environments. SuSE encourages high schools to apply to the program by completing an on-line form located on their web site.
