Didn't know gdebi has a command line interface too. Great app and great tip!

What I'd love to see though would be for a tool like gdebi to detect other .deb files that you downloaded in the same directory as the package you're trying to install that are dependencies.

For example, try using gdebi to install an updated pidgin from getdeb.net, since it requires an updated pidgin-data deb (and possibly others) gdebi can't install it even when you have downloaded all the files, you have to use dpkg to install all the filenames at once.

In case it wasn't clear, I was doing it in the style of the HP computer commercials. That is why my face isn't in frame.

It's not because I have a horrible disfigurement or anything. Not that there is anything wrong with that. If you are horribly disfigured we still love you (As long as you use Linux).

Red Hat White Paper: Using an Open Source Framework to Catch the Bad Guy

Built-in forensics, incident response, and security with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Every security policy provides guidance and requirements for ensuring adequate protection of information and data, as well as high-level technical and administrative security requirements for a system in a given environment. Traditionally, providing security for a system focuses on the confidentiality of the information on it. However, protecting the data integrity and system and data availability is just as important. For example, when processing United States intelligence information, there are three attributes that require protection: confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
