Help carry the Linux torch!

One of the best ways of promoting Linux is to get more people using it—especially younger people. Help a school in your area become “Linux-ized” by offering to set up a surplus 486 computer. Volunteer to login via TELNET once in a while to do some housekeeping chores to help keep it running smoothly. Since one of Linux's greatest attribute is stability, you won't need to do much to keep it running strong.

This would be a perfect opportunity for a local Linux Users Group project and would generate wonderful public relations. Make it part of your monthly meetings to work on setting up Linux boxes for the local schools. Invite interested students and staff to the meetings and spend some time showing them how to use Linux. You may even get some new members!
