About ApacheCon North America

First held in 1999 for developers and users of the Apache Server to meet face-to-face, ApacheCon is the official conference, trainings, and expo series of The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), and is the public showcase for Apache innovations.

Apache products power over half the Internet, petabytes of data, teraflops of operations, billions of objects, and enhance the lives of countless users and developers. ApacheCon brings developers and users together to explore key issues in building Open Source solutions "The Apache Way". With hundreds of thousands of applications deploying ASF products and code contributions by more than 3,500 Committers from around the world, the Apache community is recognized as among the most robust, successful, and respected in Open Source.

This year we aim to deliver a program that stresses the broad range of applications enabled by the many Apache Top-level Projects and initiatives in the Apache Incubator and Labs, demonstrating that you truly can do almost anything with Apache technologies.

The 2013 conference theme is “Open Source Community Leadership Drives Enterprise-Grade Innovation”, focusing on professionally-directed, relevant presentations that demonstrate real-world solutions to specific challenges. All sessions are selected by members of Apache Project Management Committees, and are presented by an internationally-recognized roster of speakers and trainers.

Apache products power more than 400 million Websites and countless mission-critical applications worldwide, from financial services to publishing to radioastronomy to social networking to biomedicine research data stores to mobile medical applications. More than a dozen Apache projects form the foundation of today's Cloud computing, and Apache software continues to play a key role in the evolution of Big Data. Five of the top 10 Open Source downloads are Apache projects: understanding their breadth and capabilities has never been more important in today's marketplace.

ApacheCon brings the global Apache community together to collaborate, promote innovation, reinforce and create new connections, launch breakout technologies, and leverage opportunities in using and developing Open Source solutions. If you are, or want to be, a part of the Open Source world then this is the conference for you. ApacheCon's professionally-directed presentations detail specific industry challenges and real-world solutions. You will learn the must-know tips, techniques, and trends needed to stay ahead in a rapidly changing landscape.
