Linux Journal Announces Samsung as 2013 Readers' Choice Award Winner

HOUSTON, TX – December 1, 2013 – Belltown Media, Inc., publisher of the award-winning monthly magazine Linux Journal, has announced the winners of its annual Linux Journal Readers' Choice Awards. The 2013 winners appear in the December issue, with awards presented to vendors and organizations in 63 categories, ranging from favorite software development tool to favorite Linux laptop.

Linux Journal's annual Readers' Choice Awards take the pulse of the Linux community, allowing readers to nominate and then ultimately choose their favorites in a number of categories. The voting took place during the months of August and September and was open to everyone. Several thousand individuals voted for their favorite Linux solutions.

Winning in the Best Linux Smartphone Manufacturer category was Samsung.
"As someone with a Samsung phone in his pocket," says Linux Journal Editor Shawn Powers, "it’s not a surprise to see the company dominate as Best Linux Smartphone Manufacturer. Samsung has created some truly beautiful hardware of late, and it doesn’t look like it plans to stop."

“In an industry conceived, created and driven by peers, an accolade from the community is the highest compliment you can get,” said Linux Journal publisher Carlie Fairchild. “The Readers' Choice Awards, like Linux itself, come from actual users. A vote from Linux Journal readers places Samsung in an elite category– that of the very best in our field.”
