How to set up internet connection using PPPOE in client PC with Fedora 7?
Apr 22, 2008 By Tasneem
Well, I am not new to using Linux OS, but technically inexperienced. I am pretty interested to switch to Linux OS, but there are apparently many obstacles I can not overcome.
I would like to know how to set up internet connection in fedora 7. I already use Windows XP.My service provider, has set up PPPOE using DHCP. I know how to do that in windows but I would like to set up internet connection similarly in Fedora 7.
Someone suggested me to use wvdial to resolve the problem but I couldn't figureout how to do that.
So if anyone knows how to do that please let me know. I really need to know.

how to set up an internet(cable) connection on fedora9
I know how to set up an internet connection on Xp,but i failed to set up the connection on fedora9. I tried to do it in the same as on Xp machine but i didn't succeded in doing so.Pls help me..........
Dial Up days are gone
I am assuming you are using Dial Up because it is all that is available in your area. Broadband is cheap enough that there is not need to use Dial Up unless it is your only option. I don't have Fedora 7. I use ubuntu 8.04 but I do have Fedora 9 running in a VM.
According to Fedora 9 you can dot he following
Click on System, select Administration, and select network
Enter your root password
create a new connection
You can select Modem connection
At that point it will detect your modem and then walk you through a windows style setup wizard for your connection
Hope that helps

I'd like to know that as
I'd like to know that as well. I can't make my internet connection work if I'm using Fedora. My provider is called Hughesnet and their help desk said they are not the ones to help me in this case. I guess I'm stuck on Windows for the time being.
