I know this is late, but here is the answer. Maybe at least someone else can find the answer here.

Edit /etc/network/interfaces to look something like this for your eth0. Change eth0 to the nic you are working with.
"hwaddress ether 00:01:02:03:04:05" is the key to the mac change. Set it to the mac you are wanting.

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
hwaddress ether 00:01:02:03:04:05

Good Luck...

there is a way

you use linux, right, if i understand correctly you want linux to take the new mac and use it every time you reboot your computer. well, if that what you want you can use the ifconfig or macchanger to write a script and put it here /etc/init.d/rc.local/SCRIPTNAME.sh.

and dont forget to change the mode to enable it to be executed.

and i think the problem will be solved

peace...

Can be writen or rewriten to the prom that holds it, but good luck finding that software, its hardware dependant. way easier to just buy a new card. that will change it permanently too.

I believe that MAC address is hard-wired into the NIC and can't be changed permanetly.
