WorldWatch Week in Review: Final Update

by Willy Smith

I've only posted one article recently, about a FLOSS-friendly candidate present in the US presidential cycle. He's hoping that with FLOSS, it could get back to being an election.

WorldWatch is now a static site. I haven't been posting because I have been busy as the new editor of Linux Gazette. We have decided to divide any future content that would have been going into WorldWatch between Linux Gazette NewsBytes and a new site that will be up sometime later this month.

Now, in case you're wondering, I'm not doing this because WorldWatch was a boring job. Au contraire, it's been far more interesting than I ever could have imagined. “WorldWatch, a site focusing on how Linux and Open Source are effecting social, economic and political change throughout the world” was a passive mission, though. I think that after doing this for six months I have learned enough to take a more active role.

I will be moving as quickly as possible to somewhere in Europe, as I believe that will be one of the main centers for Linux and FLOSS development and activity during the next five to ten years. It also has become apparent that I cannot take on the new responsibilities I have been given without much faster and more reliable connectivity than is available anywhere I'd like to live here in Costa Rica.

I would like to thank all of you readers for participating in this experiment over the past six months. Please keep watching the site, as we will be updating it one more time with a link to the new site when ready to go. We hope that the combination of the new site, as well as the new format and content of Linux Gazette, will help you stay updated on current news and events. We want to encourage and enable you to participate in the world revolution known as Linux and FLOSS.

Willy Smith is the Editor of Linux Gazette.
