Every security policy provides guidance and requirements for ensuring adequate protection of information and data, as well as high-level technical and administrative security requirements for a system in a given environment. Traditionally, providing security for a system focuses on the confidentiality of the information on it. However, protecting the data integrity and system and data availability is just as important. For example, when processing United States intelligence information, there are three attributes that require protection: confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

How to Build an Optimal Hadoop Cluster to Store and Maintain Unlimited Amounts of Data Using Microservers
Realizing the promise of Apache® Hadoop® requires the effective deployment of compute, memory, storage and networking to achieve optimal results. With its flexibility and multitude of options, it is easy to over or under provision the server infrastructure, resulting in poor performance and high TCO. Join us for an in depth, technical discussion with industry experts from leading Hadoop and server companies who will provide insights into the key considerations for designing and deploying an optimal Hadoop cluster.
Some of key questions to be discussed are:
- What is the “typical” Hadoop cluster and what should be installed on the different machine types?
- Why should you consider the typical workload patterns when making your hardware decisions?
- Are all microservers created equal for Hadoop deployments?
- How do I plan for expansion if I require more compute, memory, storage or networking?

Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4 RedHat 9.0
when I start maya.bin it gives me
/usr/aw/maya4.0/bin/maya.bin: relocation error: /usr/aw/maya4.0/lib/libFoundation.so: symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
but GLIBC_2.0 is defined in libc.so.6
If anybody knows the reason please help, I will appreciate it.
10x in advance

Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4.0.1 Mandrake 9.1
i also get the problem : /usr/aw/maya4.0/bin/maya.bin: relocation error: /usr/aw/maya4.0/lib/libFoundation.so: undefined symbol: _dl_loaded
i need help please
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4 RedHat 9.0
see http://www.alias.com/eng/support/maya/knowledgebase/systems/3042.jhtml
that says:
Solution:
The work around for this error message is to use the environment variable
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL.
Open a terminal window and type the following 2 commands:
For Bash shell users:
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
For C shell users:
setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1
maya
Also, you can add it to the maya5.0 startup script in /usr/aw/maya5.0/bin
directory after the line:
For Bash shell users:
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
For C shell users:
setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1
before the set maya_exec = maya.bin line
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4 RedHat 9.0
You need to add:
setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL '2.4.1'
to /usr/aw/maya4.5/bin/maya file on the Case Linux.

Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4 RedHat 9.0
I had the exact same problem in Maya 5 and this fixed everything. Thanks.
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4 RedHat 9.0
you need to add this to the maya script /usr/local/bin/maya under "case Linux:"
before:
case Linux:
set lib = lib
set lsFlags = '-l'
breaksw
after :
case Linux:
set lib = lib
set lsFlags = '-l'
setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1
breaksw
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4 RedHat 9.0

to install maya 4.5 on other distros than rh
You have to extract the files from the libstdc++ rpm package (from the RedHat version it was designed to run; -RH 7.3 for maya 4.5-)
and place it under the lib directory from maya (copy the libraries in it to Maya's library directory). No need for a specific version of openmotif, but you DO need tcsh.
Re: to install maya 4.5 on other distros than rh
please send me license and serial number of maya 4.5
to get activation key
i purchased maya 4.5 ,but i have not activation key so please send me immediatly.
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4
My problem is:
/usr/aw/maya4.0/bin/maya.bin: relocation error: /usr/aw/maya4.0/lib/libFoundatio
n.so: undefined symbol: _dl_loaded
My system is redhat 8.0.Anyone know what the problem is and show me a solution!!!
Thank you!!!
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4
download the correct glibc version but before that check the alias wave front site for compatible glib version. also update openmotif. this should correct the errors - Nilesh
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4
I have a problem trying to run alien against the maya 4.5 rpm
packages:
it says unknown package name. my woody debain destribution doesnt recongnize the rpm file extension, they dont show up in the file names. I installed 4.0 last year following the article with no problem. so whats my problem on 4.5?
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4
Just copy the rpms to your HD, extend filenames with '.rpm' manually and alien should work ;-)
But I got another problem:
When I'm trying to start maya (installed on my woody system) it just says:
/usr/aw/maya4.5/bin/maya.bin: relocation error: /usr/aw/maya4.5/lib/libTranslators.so: undefined symbol: __dynamic_cast_2
and that's it.
Any ideas???

Re: Maya on Slackware 8.1
I tryed, but it doesn't work...the message is:
/usr/aw/maya4.5/bin/maya.bin: relocation error: /usr/aw/maya4.5/lib/libTranslators.so: undefined symbol: __dynamic_cast_2
thanks Corrado Leita
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4
Very helpful article, for many reasons. Thank you.
An explanation of the following would be much appreciated:
"When I tried launching Maya it terminated, unable to find its shared libraries. Hess quickly set it right, ``It's possible that the libraries are installed, but the necessary symlinks to let ldconfig find them are not installed.'' He suggested manually running ldconfig, which did the trick. Besides running ldconfig -v /usr/aw/maya4.0/lib, I also added that directory name to my /etc/ld.so.conf file."
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4
Is there Maya 4.5 for LInux?
Re: GFX: Alias|Wavefront Maya 4
Hi!!
I've done just what you said, and I get this:
/usr/aw/maya4.5/bin/maya.bin: relocation error: /usr/aw/maya4.5/lib/libTranslators.so: undefined symbol: __dynamic_cast_2
any idea for the next step?
thank you very much...
